Spooky Pets 001: Desert Dogs
Welcome to the Spooky Pets animal rescue blog!
Last week, our team was following the incredible story of 150+ dogs who were removed from a homeless family’s camp on state land in Arizona. We have very little information about the dogs’ or the owners’ situation, or how hundreds of dogs found themselves unhoused in 110 degree desert heat. From what we’ve read, however, the animals (including seniors and puppies) seemed to be in general good health and were voluntarily surrendered by their owners, who understood that their dogs needed better care.
After doing some research and voting, the Spooky Pets community chose to feature Love Them All Sanctuary in Scottsdale Arizona on this week’s blog. Love Them All’s Instagram account was how the dogs initially came to our attention, and they have since pulled 17 of them for initial care, evaluation and placement. The rest of the dogs have been pulled by other rescues (led by Sky Sanctuary) and the county sheriff.
Seventeen dogs means a lot of exams, shots, chips, spays and neuters. It also means a lot of crates, beds, food, water and training. Love Them All and the other rescues involved will need all the help they can get to prepare these animals for forever homes.
We contacted LTA for more details about the specific dogs they pulled and learned that there were 16 small dogs and one pit bull. As pibble owners, we know how much more effort and diligence can be required to get a pibble adopted, so we have donated $1000 to sponsor this specific dog’s care to help see her through the rehoming process.
All of the dogs at LTA will be available for adoption/foster soon and applications can be filled out now! If you have space in your home and your heart for one of these little survivors, please don’t hesitate to apply.
