Welcome back to the Spooky Pets animal rescue blog!

This week, we chose to clear a fundraiser for Harley, a retired K9 in Texas who is facing a cancer diagnosis. We learned about Harley through the Retired Police Canine Foundation (who assist with the cost and care of retired police or military K9s) and he has a pretty amazing story.

Harley was a rescue dog who was trained for police detection work as a member of the Round Rock Police Department. It’s not uncommon for shelter dogs to qualify for detection work, but it is no small feat and Harley did good work.

Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, Harley started presenting symptoms associated with cancer (lumps, lethargy, etc). If you’ve had an old dog, particularly an old pittie in your life, you know that this is a pretty common and incredibly difficult situation, so the Spooky Pets Community decided to help.

We received an update yesterday morning stating that, after seeing an oncologist, Harley’s diagnosis is now terminal. This is the news we never want to hear, and hate to share, but thanks in part to Spooky Pets HODLers, we’re confident that Harley will get the best treatment possible, and that his owners will do everything to make him comfortable and happy until he crosses the rainbow bridge.

Good boy.

As always, we‘re linking this blog to a Spooky Pet auction on Crypto.com/NFT. We will donate a portion of proceeds (all earnings over $50 minus transaction fees) from the auction directly to PRK9 to make sure that Harley and other retired animals get the best possible care in their golden years. If you purchase or win a Spooky Pet, you will be automatically authed into the Spooky Pets community and will get voting rights, access to member perks, and the weekly Spooky Pet newsletter, where we update members on the progress of the project and our previous featured animals.

This week, we’re auctioning Spooky Pet #0120 to raise additional funds for Harley and the other retired service dogs aided by RPK9. 120 Has his robocop visor on and he’s ready to serve, so bid high! The auction will end on Friday September 2nd.

Even if you don’t win the auction, there are still plenty of Spooky Pets available on Crypto.com! Adopt yours today and join the team. 10% of every initial sale will be deposited directly in the Spooky Pets philanthropic treasury. To learn more, visit us on the web, Twitter, or the gram. If you represent a rescue organization and would like to pitch the community for a future feature, please email: spookypets@brovemberrain.com
