Hello again, Spooky Frenz!

This week, our community is excited to share an entire family of Great Danes who were rescued from a breeder neglect situation. The team from Country Roads Animal Rescue in Oklahoma was called to pull an undisclosed number of dogs from a backyard breeder who was being evicted from their home.

The Surviving Pups

When Country Roads staff arrived, they found an emaciated mother (Alice) with a double ear infection, a father (Maximus aka Moose), also in poor health and with an infected snake bite on his paw, and eight brand new whelps who were not getting enough milk.

Immediately after removal, three of the puppies died, including Ledger (pictured) who was was starved due to a cleft palete.

Ledger

This crew got off to a horrible start. The Country Roads team tells us that even though the adult dogs were completely malnourished, they wouldn’t take food for several days, which tells us they were probably just as mistreated as they were neglected. As often happens, however, a single intervention can turn an awful story bright!

Since getting settled, the five surviving puppies are eating and gaining weight. The adult dogs are in better health as well. They have started the trust-building process and have quickly integrated and bonded with their rescuers. This means that all of the dogs are or will be adoptable in the near future. We’re absolutely thrilled to hear about their progress and will be following their story so that we can watch them continue to thrive. We have also donated $1000 to the dogs’ care.

If you have room in your home and your heart for a whole lotta dog, please consider adopting one of these Danes. Applications can be made on the Country Roads website. and if a Great Dane is a little too great for you, there are plenty of other dogs on the site who could use a loving home or additional support.

Alice

As always, we‘re linking this blog to a Spooky Pet auction on Crypto.com/NFT. We will donate a portion of proceeds (all earnings over $50 minus transaction fees) from the auction directly to Country Roads to help with continued care for Alice, Maximus and the puppies. If you purchase or win a Spooky Pet, you will be automatically authed into the Spooky Pets community and will get voting rights, access to member perks, and the weekly Spooky Pet newsletter, where we update members on the progress of the project and our previous featured animals.

This week, we’re auctioning Spooky Pet #9911. We think Ledger is a good name for him! The auction will end on Friday September 23rd, so get those bids in soon.

Even if you don’t win the auction, there are still plenty of Spooky Pets available on Crypto.com! Adopt yours today and join the team. 10% of every initial sale will be deposited directly in the Spooky Pets philanthropic treasury. To learn more, visit us on the web, Twitter, or the gram.
