Spooky Pets 014: Dig a Pig
Hello Spooky fam and happy Thanksgiving week to those of us in the USA! We have a very special animal to share with you this week, from a very special rescue that is a bit different from our usual features.
Y’all, meet Hermione.
Hermione is a rescue pig living at Sisu Refuge in eastern North Carolina and has been dealing with a mysterious illness and vision issues for about a week, and will be getting general and opthalmalogical care in an attempt to figure out what is going on.
Hermione is part of a bonded pair with Elmer, another pig at Sisu refuge. The two pigs met in medical quarantine and are inseperable. Elmer suffers from social anxiety, and as near as we can tell, Hermione is his support animal, so he needs her healthy! We have donated $1000 to Sisu to help Hermione get the care she needs and get back to normal life with Elmer.
Sisu Refuge is a sanctuary for farmed animals that is mainly focused on lifelong care for large breed pigs rescued from neglect, abuse or commercial farms. They have over 100 pigs on property and provide an excellent life for each animal that comes into their care. Several of the pigs at Sisu are still in need of Christmas sponsors for 2022, so if you have the means, please consider helping out this holiday season!
