6 Things You Need To Know Before Taking Psychedelics

1. Consciousness — you will begin to question things. Psychedelic substances expand our consciousness and cause us to question the reality we are experiencing. You may begin to question things you never thought twice about during or after your experience.
2. Fear — bad trips can be terrifying. A “bad trip” can be a haunting experience or an extremely powerful lesson for you. If you can allow yourself to surrender all thoughts of trying to control the experience — you can overcome the fear and gain knowledge of self. This fear usually emanates from the ego trying to maintain control and psychedelic substances are known to induce ego death.
3. First time? — find a trip-sitter. If it’s your first time using psychedelic substances I would recommend finding a trusted friend or sibling to trip-sit for you. This person should be someone who has not ingested any substances and is on hand to help relax you if you begin to panic when experiencing hallucinations. If you are planning to consume MDMA or LSD please buy a testing kit to make sure you aren’t ingesting anything else that may be harmful such as legal research chemicals — http://testkitplus.com/
4. Dosage — start with a small amount first. There’s no need to take a heroic dose on your first experience — or any for that matter — start off with an amount you feel comfortable with, you can always have more if you aren’t feeling the effects. Micro-dosing psychedelics can also be a great introduction into their effects and familiarise you with what to expect if you decide to take more.
5. Research — know what to expect during your experience. Listen to the works of Alan Watts or Terrence McKenna to understand how to effectively use psychedelics for spiritual growth to get the most out of your experience. These substances can either be of huge benefit or detriment to your life — depending on how you plan to use them. Psychedelics are derived from plant teachers and therefore should not be used for recreation.
6. Integration — learn how to integrate what you’ve learned during your trip. Tripping is the easy part — integrating the lessons is hard. Anyone can ingest a substance and have the experience — but the real growth comes from understanding what the experience was trying to teach you and changing your behaviour or belief systems to improve your life.
Psychedelics are here to be used as tools and not to be abused as recreational drugs. If you are planning to consume these substances I invite you to ask yourself why. If you are using them to escape your reality — don’t — they will enhance it and force you to look your worst fears in the face.
Once you’ve received the message — hang up the phone.
Peace & positive vibes.
