5 Steps To Finding Your Passion

1. Try new things — see what feels right. When we don;t know what our passion is or what we enjoy we can start by trying out different things. Singing, dancing, painting, drawing or surfing — it really doesn’t matter where we start, the important thing is to just start. The more we try the more likely we are to find something that feels right.

2. Emotions — how does it make you feel? When we’re doing what we love we enter a meditative state where we lose all sense of time. If this doesn’t happen the first time trying something — don’t be alarmed — we can enter this state when intensely focused in the now such as during meditation.

3. Consistency — do it for a while. Once we’ve found something we like it’s important to stick to it for a period of time. Let’s say it’s writing and we want to pursue it as a career — we need to try writing every day for a month and see how it feels. This gives us a taste of what to expect if we want to be a professional writer. Over time we will understand what we enjoy about the process & learn more about ourselves through doing it.

4. Play time — we enjoy what we’re good at and we’re good at what we enjoy. If we approach something with the intention of being great at it — it will feel like a grind rather than something we enjoy. Our passion needs to be something you we to do, so treat it as play time and it will be something qw want to do every day. This is how we master our craft and become great at what we do.

5. Vision — how does your passion fit in with your life? Building a clear mental picture of how our lives would look based on doing what we enjoy every day is essential for creating a life that revolves around doing what we love. This is where we need to make the distinction and decide to turn our passion into more than something we do for fun — this usually happens further down the line.

We don’t need to feel pressured to find our passion, everyone is different and some of us will find what we love to do naturally — while others may need to go out and find it.

The only way to do great things is to love what you do.

Peace & positive vibes.
