13 Reasons Why You Need To Meditate Today

1. Stress reduction — meditation gives us a sense of calm & peace of mind that can otherwise be hard to obtain with the fast-paced lifestyles we live today.

2. Focus — clearing our mental hard drive of all thoughts for a short period of time stops us from being distracted by irrelevant brain chatter.

3. Self-awareness — sitting with our thoughts & feelings and observing how they impact us is a great way to get to know ourselves which improves all areas of our lives.

4. Mindfulness — being still and appreciating the present moment allows us to tune into the now, which is where life takes place. Tuning into the now every day gives us a great sense of perspective which can drastically improve mental health.

5. Ageing — meditation has been shown to reduce the effects of ageing, primarily due to the nature of its calming effects.

6. Mental health — setting aside time to be present with ourselves can shed light on our inner conflict and allow repressed emotions & memories to resurface — both of which can be a root cause of mental health challenges.

7. Memory — meditation has been scientifically proven to increase the size of grey matter in the brain and this increases our capacity for both short and long-term memory.

8. Substance abuse — meditating regularly helps us to exercise self-control, which is a skill developed through dedicated practice, and this discourages over-indulgent behaviour such as substance abuse.

9. Mental strength — reconnecting with ourselves through meditation builds strength in the relationship we have with ourselves and this makes us resilient to many of the pressures of the outside world.

10. The subconscious mind — when we are present with ourselves with no outside distractions such as music, TV or conversation, we give ourselves an opportunity to look into the subconscious mind which is where thoughts are created.

Looking into the subconscious mind is how we gain an understanding of why we think the way we do & how what we feed our brains is influencing our thoughts.

11. Creativity — there’s nothing worse than the feeling of writer’s block when we’re trying to create, meditating regularly banishes this limiting belief over time.

12. Prevention of disease — Alzheimer’s is one of the diseases meditation has been scientifically proven to prevent, it should be noted that this is only with a dedicated regular meditation practice.

13. Relationships — meditation allows us to work on the relationship we have with ourselves and this is the relationship we will have with others.

There are some questions you can’t Google — meditate.

Peace & positive vibes.
