In this period of confinement, Sport Heroes is committed to its mission to support and encourage as many people as possible to get active for all the health benefits that sport can have.

90% of its members want to continue playing sports.

Take care of yourself, play sports ” is the advice given by Boris Pourreau, the founder of Sport Heroes in a recent Linkedin post. Physical activity is important for both mental and physical health, which can be particularly useful during this period of uncertainty.

And it is not the members of Sport Heroes * who will say the opposite, since they are 90% to wish to continue practicing a physical activity despite this situation **.

  • 54% of Running Heroes members think it’s time to discover other activities (weight training, yoga, pilates).
  • 54% of Cycling Heroes members would like to take the opportunity to embark on strength training.
  • 70% of Swimming Heroes members say they are ready to try a new sport.

Sport Heroes’ answer: promoting indoor sports

In addition to the announcement of its great #HomeHeroes challenge for companies wishing to keep in touch with their employees, Sport Heroes has launched its first actions to motivate its 1.2M members to keep moving. This includes:

  • Home challenges : Feel Good challenges to discover and practice Yoga, Morning challenges to build muscle, and Just Move challenges to let off steam. The activations that were initially planned with brands have been adapted.
  • Content: A mini-series of videos of sports essentials, longer formats to return to the most beautiful stories of sport, to have reading at home, and dream of recovery!
  • Live lessons to motivate users to exercise at home, led daily by a coach on the Facebook group 30 minutes to get moving. The athletes of the French swimming team also have offered their sports sessions on Instagram to continue physical activity at home and keep smiling and fit during this period of confinement.

A change in behavior observed

Sport Heroes did not see any change in the number of running activities received by its database in the first week of containment, but these activities declined slightly in the 2nd week. The average distance covered in running has also decreased: it went from 9.3 km to 7.2 km before the 1st week of confinement and the beginning of the 2nd. Cycling and swimming activities have declined significantly.

On the other hand, a peak was observed in yoga (+ 327%), indoor cycling (+ 341%), and “workout” (+ 147%) activities, which shows the willingness of sports practitioners to continue to move, whilst adapting to the situation.
