UCL on Facebook!, ESPN status, Villa uses WhatsApp @CDM Digital Sport — Issue #25

Wimbledon starts this week and we will be watching what it will bring to fans engagement and tennis coverage on all platforms.

UCL on Facebook for Fox.
“It will never happen”, then it happens.
Fox signs a deal with Facebook to stream matches on the platform. Fox Sports will live-stream two matches per matchday in the group stage, four in the round of 16 matches and four quarterfinal matches. Some matches will be exclusive to Facebook and the Fox Sports Go app, while others will be simulcast on TV.
One word “REACH”.

Sky latest announced changes are signals that the media giant is trying to react to a changing landscape (maybe a bit too late? maybe not?).
NBC is also trying to move fast and has announced a Premier League streaming platform.

More TV on digital, in a move that seems to go in the opposite direction YouTube is bringing traditional linear TV (sports included) to the platform in other 10 countries more.

Social VR from our partners LiveLike seems a logical next step for watching sport with friends through a virtual experience. A great idea in theory, very geeky for now.

… and by the way didn’t Steve Curry say he did not care about money? Still, love the man.

The biggest news of the week: UCL on Facebook for Fox.
