For those of you that know me, we at SportIn Global are extremely cautious when it comes to providing the top tips for you to succeed. However, we love sharing stories from the community with their tips! After all, we are stronger when we help each other grow. And the great thing about the SportIn Global community is how diverse and incredible it is.

Sports Professionals and students across the globe have come together in one place to share knowledge, learn and connect with like-minded people. And even better, some of the key leaders out there have shared some amazing tips with me. Here are some you should write down! At least to begin with.

  1. Find your Unique Selling Point! What about your interest, passion or skill that you have makes you valuable to a sport organisation? (Andrew Merle)

2. Be an expert in your field! Provide value and trust to your colleagues, peer students and athletes. If you want to work with the best, perform at the highest level. (Ryan Gonsalves)

3. Build your community and network! As an athlete, student or professional, building your sports community and network is critical for your success. You need to attend events, speak with people and be proactive. (Ozana Marginean)

4. Be open-minded! More and more trends and topics are coming from the outside into the sport industry. Keep a special eye on sustainability and digitalisation. (Timm Jäger)

5. Watch a lot of football! You need to understand the practical side of the industry. If you are not in it yet, watch the sport you are trying to enter a lot! (Camilla Prando)

6. Be Prepared when approaching people in the industry! Perhaps you are going for an interview or you are at an event. Make sure to be prepared and think about how you can provide value to them. Be curious, humble and respectful. (Jan Alessie)

7. You need to Volunteer — Any sport! Not only is it a great way to build your experience, but you build valuable connections. If you are able to provide that value and stand out, you are more likely to be hired for the next event or opportunity coming up. (Valeria Sorrentino)

BONUS TIP From World Champion Gilberto Silva — Set up your Goals! Having goals and knowing your passion is what makes the difference from becoming the best version of yourself and perhaps even one day become a World Champion.
