Preparing for the big launch!
After two years of dedicating my life to SportIn Global, we are finally reaching the point of our beta release. This fall will be the beginning of a new solution that we are certain will make an impact on the global sport industry. Here are my thoughts before the release and the expectations for the rest of 2019.
A smart person told me one day “Be comfortable being uncomfortable”. If I could sum up these last two years in one sentence, that would be it. As a first-time entrepreneur, there are a vast amount of lessons to be learned and discovered on this journey, and we have barely scratched the surface. This is extremely interesting, yet terrifying, but immensily motivating. Why? Because it means we are making progress.
I would not sit here today and talk about our upcoming launch, without the massive support from my family, friends and connections in the industry. It is kind of crazy to think what an idea can lead to and how important it is to try new things. What I mean about that, is that you don’t have any certainty when you are starting a new venture, especially when you are a newcomer. You have to trust your gut and make decisions that you can vouch for regardless of the outcome. And of course, the cliché of making the right decisions.
Throughout the last two years, I have made some mistakes, but also some right decisions, which has led us to the point we are facing now. And in many ways, this is the pinnacle we have been working for. Yet, it is just the beginning of our journey. My expectations for this fall and the company itself, is that we have created a solid starting point towards reaching our ultimate goal. At this point, we are literally on the starting blocks and ready to start running once we get the go.
What I enjoy the most of building something from scratch, is the ability of creating a solution that solves your industry’s problems. Which essentially is the whole point of creating a solution in the first place. Without diving too much into this, we are extremely focused on giving our clients, partners, and users the ability to make an impact on the platform. Why? Because regardless of our immense research and industry talks, changes will happen. Our job, has been to create a platform that not only are solving the challenges of today, but the challenges of tomorrow and the future.
The challenge of this approach, is that you will face certain obstacles that might impact some major decisions in the company. Which leads me back to my point of making the right decisions. My vision and purpose of this platform, is to help students, within the field of sports, to bridge the gap from being a student to a professional in a better and more efficient way. This is something I try to keep in mind, in all my major decision making process. This is after all the heart and soul of the company.
What you need to understand, is that in order to help the students, you need to solve some other challenges that impacts the outcome of your core problem. And in order to do that, you need to look at the big picture. And with the workload and the stage we are in right now, this is easy to forget. That is one of my biggest concerns for the fall. I decided to do something about it, and it literally came across my Instagram feed a couple days ago. A coincidence? I don’t think so. I believe everything happens for a reason.
And this is what I saw:
As you might have understood already, there are not a lot of days off when you are an entrepreneur. But you are working on something you love and it is both exhausting and amazing at the same time. Like watching a really good fotball game with your favourite team. In that sense, when this “Think Week” came down my feed the other day, I saw it as a great opportunity to charge my batteries, get back on some reading and come into this stage we are facing with what I hope to be future breakthroughs for SportIn Global.
When that is said, I have never tested this before, so it is important to listen to your body and mind and understand what will stimulate and help you grow. Personally, a believe a mix between hiking and reading would be the best solution for me. However, I am a Norwegian, so the hiking part is a bit biased. But yet again, this is what I think is best for me.
There are several upcoming parts I would love to share with you, but unfortunately I can’t… This is again the world we are living in and you just have to wait and see. What I can promise, is that this is just the beginning of SportIn Global. Stay tuned…..
Vi snakkes!
All the best,
Ole Martin V.
