Sports in Middle School and High School sports vary in what you can do and what sports are available to you. I did do some sports throughout middle school, but not all of them. The main sports were cross country, track, and wrestling. I have not participated in any sports in High School, but I know about all of the sports. I feel that in Middle School, there is a setup for a lot of the high schools sports and then after that college sports. Sports are a fun way to compete against others and hang out with your friends.

So how come doing sports in Middle School could be so important compare to just waiting till more options in High School? This is not only a terrible idea because of how much more tasking sports become in High School, but if you don’t like the sport then you will either have to deal with it for another 2–3 months or have to quit. And trust me, it is not a fun thing to do if you have to quit a sport because you do not like it. Middle School sports are set up to not be as long as a High Schools sports seasons, but they are more of a taster, to help you realize if you would enjoy to do this sport in high school or not. Like Track at my school in Middle School was only for about 2 months or less and you did not have as much options as HIgh School Track, but you had a general idea of which events do what. A lot of the times, the coaches will make you pick one field and one track event so that you can get a taste of almost all the events that you may want to do in HIgh School. Even though there are a lot of events offered, a couple more come in at the High School level like Javelin. It is always good to try something new and get to know everything about it, instead of just shoving it off till later.

So what sports can you do in Middle School compared to High School? In MIddle School there are three seasons of sports, just like in HIgh School, Fall, Winter, and Spring Sports. In the Fall, Cross Country, Football, and Volleyball. Then in the Winter time, Girls and Boys Basketball Started along with Wrestling. Finally in the Spring, Track started. Now at the High School that I go to, the Fall Sports are Boys Tennis, Girls Golf, Football, Cross Country and Volleyball. Then in the winter, Boys and Girls Basketball, Bowling, Gymnastics, Swimming and Diving, and finally Wrestling start. Then finally in the springtime, Track and Field, Boys Tennis and Golf, Baseball, Softball, and Girls Soccer starts. So compare to the options in Middle School, yes your choice of sports widens, but if you at least know that you do not want to do on of the sports offered from Middle School, then you do not have to.

The final recommendation that I could give to everyone about sports is to try to find camps and clubs outside of school, a lot of these can help enhance and evolve your skills over time more than a school would for just 1–4 years of the sport. And if you start at a young age, then you not only are allowing more room for growth, but your child or yourself will be fit, healthy, and will probably make new friends and learn teamwork skills. This also always for more practice and depending on how long or early they start the sport, they may be able to change and decide new sports to do. It is also always great to have an idea in mind on what you want to do in a sport, like if you want to use your hands and arms more than you legs, or if you want a team on team thing or mono y mono. Giving time not only allows for practice to make perfect, but it allows for growth in all who play and compete.
