Champions League guru Pep Guardiola can help Manchester City secure victory

Manchester City got their season off to a shaky start with a 2–1 win over Sunderland at the weekend, thanks to an 87th minute own goal.

Their attentions now turn to European action with Steaua Bucharest their opponents for Tuesday night’s Champions League fixture.

City manager Pep Guardiola has an extremely impressive Champions League record; reaching the semi-final stage in each of the seven seasons he’s been a manager — winning the cup on two of those occasions.

City will be hoping that under Guardiola’s leadership they can finally establish themselves as one of the best teams in Europe, if not the best.

The Romanian side have, however, been impressive at this stage of the competition, losing only one of their last sixteen Champions League qualification rounds at home.

With all the quality City have, I’m going to have to back City for the win. Sportsbet.io have a 3–1 City win at 11.66, which could be a good shout with decent returns.

Steaua’s record at home, coupled with City’s attacking prowess should ensure both teams to score, which comes in at 1.89 with Sportsbet.io.

Neither team wants to lose this leg but I think Manchester City will have too much for the Romanian side, running out comfortable winners.
