enjoys Olympics betting boom

Rio 2016 saw some fantastic sport, but according to our figures, it was also the most gambled upon Olympics of all time.

40% of our bets during the 16-day sporting extravaganza came on action from Brazil, with tennis and football proving the most bet upon sports.

Nearly a quarter of all Olympics bets were on tennis, with the epic final between Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro unsurprisingly proving the most popular match.

Football was the next most bet on sport, with 20% of Olympic wagers, with handball the perhaps surprising bronze medal spot.

The most popular individual match of the Games was Serbia’s basketball match against America, where the USA sneaked an end-to-end thriller 94–91.
