The Sky is Crying

J. Roberts
Nov 29, 2015 · 2 min read

It was a seemingly permanent frown that invaded my face late Thursday afternoon on Thanksgiving. I’ve felt these frowns before, but only recently became aware of them. They cling to your face and roll your skin into an unpleasant and unapproachable look. It takes real effort to not frown.

I saw it through my binoculars as Romo hit the turf and immediately reached for his collarbone. The season was already over, but being an undeniable, optimistic fanatic of the Dallas Cowboys, my hopes laid on Romo and was already making plans for a comeback of epic proportions and seeing Romo make good on his promise to Brady to “see you in February.”

The Dallas sky started crying on Thursday and continues its weeping on Sunday.

A season that once held so much promise is all but in the books. Romo turns 36 in April and is under contract a few more years, but the decline is around the corner.
