The European Youth Basketball League, Europe’s premier junior competition and the only FIBA-approved youth organization in Europe, has partnered with SportsCastr to live stream three U20 games, including the Championship Game, to a global audience. Many of Europe’s and Africa’s top basketball prospects will be on display, beginning with the first playoff game, which will feature the undefeated U20 team from the NBA Academy Africa. The partnership will utilize SportsCastr’s groundbreaking live streaming platform to enable fans all across the world to personalize the commentary of the games by selecting who calls the action for them, or by jumping in to commentate the action themselves.

Official commentators for the event include former New York Knick and All-American standout for Syracuse University, John Wallace; Naismith Hall of Fame inductee and current New York Liberty Head Coach Katie Smith; professional commentator, radio host and YouTube personality JRSportBrief; and Tomaso Sasdelli, EYBL Partner and founder of Basket Eastern Talents, commentating in Italian. “The NCAA Tournament is, quite clearly, one of the most popular sporting events in the US, but the coverage of similar competitions outside of the States continues to be extremely limited,” says SportsCastr’s VP of Partnerships Nick Schupak. “Our partnership with the EYBL invites the global basketball community to experience world-class basketball in a totally new, interactive way, unlocking a literal world of potential.”

Founded in 1998, the EYBL comprises 180 teams, in five age groups, from 32 countries in Europe, and now includes teams from the NBA Academy Africa. This year’s competition will culminate in a final stage that will put some of the top international prospects on display, including Mudiaga Timothy Ighoefe (committed to Georgetown), Kurt Curry Wegscheider and Nelly Junior Joseph (NBA Academy) live from Pécs, Hungary. We are proud to organize and showcase the next generation of professional players, providing the first international competition experience for many talents of their hopefully long basketball journey,” says Balazs Radics, Director of the EYBL Central European Division. The live streams will be the first opportunity for many basketball fans around the world to watch the top college-age players from Europe and Africa compete against one another. Many NBA players have passed through the EYBL ranks, including Jonas Valanciunas (Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies), Alexey Shved (Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks) and Radions Kurucs (Brooklyn Nets).
