The NFL Players Association acquired a minority equity stake in SportsCastr and are now teaming up with the groundbreaking social live video platform to send one user to the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles. Registered users on SportsCastr will compete with one another for the prize by creating live streaming video content, from real-time play-by-play to halftime shows and postgame wrap-ups. Users will be ranked in a leaderboard through the month of April, with the user who accumulates the most total views winning the all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles for a VIP experience of the NFLPA Rookie Premiere.

“Athletes constantly explore ways to build their personal brands and creatively connect with their fans,” said Ricky Medina, Senior Manager of Business Development for NFL Players Inc., “and SportsCastr’s live-streaming capabilities align perfectly with these goals.” SportsCastr provides the platform and tools for fans everywhere to stream live and create the sports show of their dreams, and to provide live play-by-play utilizing SportsCastr’s ultra-low latency streaming technology. Fan can also interact with their favorite athletes, such as Clinton Portis, who live-streamed during each Redskins’ game this past season, through live chat. Achieving sub-one second latency is among the characteristics that makes SportsCastr the optimal social live streaming platform for sports fans. It’s no fun having the commentator shout their patented catch phrase 30 seconds after the touchdown is scored or the ball is hit out of the park.

Adding to the competition is a new partnership between SportsCastr and Play by Play Sports Broadcasting Camps, whose roster of over 4,000 young aspiring commentators make for an ideal collaboration. Campers, who age 10–18, will hone their skills and begin building their followings by streaming live on SportsCastr.

The NFLPA announced the acquisition of a minority interest in SportsCastr via its athlete-driven accelerator the OneTeam Collective last summer, citing the platform as a way to elevate the visibility of their player-members and to promote and expand the reach of NFL Players Inc. licensing opportunities by engaging sports fans on a global scale. SportsCastr’s group of investors and advisors also includes NBA Commissioner David Stern, NBA All-Star and NBATV analyst Steve Smith, and Redskins Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis.

The Rookie Premiere prize package represents one of myriad ways in which NFL players can utilize SportsCastr to reward and engage football fans. For more information on the contest visit SportsCastr.com/RookiePremier or download SportsCastr from the App Store at https://SportsCastr.com/GetApp
