Brisbane Leadership Summit
In March 2015 over 30 Brisbane based secondary schools attended the Leadership Summit held at Allan Border Field, Albion. MC, Gorden Tallis led a light hearted and interactive session with SportsMed ambassadors Sam Betten, Ellyse Perry and Curtis Browning.
The athletes shared advice and anecdotes about how they found balance between key commitments in their lives, both previously when at school and now as professional athletes — managing their overall health and wellness. Leading Australian nutritionist, Dr Johann Bilsborough supported by SportsMed’s Dr Anita Sirotic, also shared analysis on the impact of lack of sleep and nutrition on productivity and performance.
Correlations found between improving sleep quality and; improved mood / motivation, improved appetite and a reduction in stress / fatigue. Supporting research showed that participation in sport was also found to have a positive impact.
