Newly-married Derek Jeter on losing his virginity: “It was better than I even imagined”

NAPA VALLEY, CA — Former New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter was married to long-time girlfriend and model Hannah Davis in an intimate ceremony on Saturday, but it was what came after the wedding that has the Players’ Tribune publisher smiling from ear to ear.
“I did it! I did sex!” a smiling Jeter told a reporter who spotted the couple heading out to brunch the day after their wedding. “It was better than I even imagined. I can’t wait to do it again.” His wife smiled and shook her head shyly as the pair got into the back of a waiting car.
The 42 year-old dated many women during his bachelor years — from actresses to models to actress/models — but despite his “playboy” reputation, Jeter staunchly refused to have sex before marriage, even if women broke up with him because of it. In fact, he went as far as giving women gift bags after dates as an apology for not having sex with them.
“Derek hoped that by giving them a gift bag, they wouldn’t mock him publicly for being a virgin,” said a friend. “It mostly worked.”
Yet the public image that was cultivated of the shortstop was that he was living a wild bachelor lifestyle and Jeter privately clarified that at every turn.
“Whenever it was reported that Derek was with a new woman, he always called his mother to make sure she knew he wasn’t having intercourse with the girl,” said a former teammate. “Derek was always a very proud virgin.”
In an essay published on the Players’ Tribune this morning about his marriage, Jeter writes that “if he had been doing sex during my playing days, I probably would have stopped playing baseball or have been really bad at it. Sex is really great and I would have just wanted to stay inside doing it all day!”
