Report: Odell Beckham planning to take chartered flight to New York after game with some friends
GREEN BAY — According to sources within the Giants organization, star wide receiver Odell Beckham is planning to take a chartered flight to New York City just hours after his team’s playoff game at Green Bay ends. The travel plans are likely to rub some the wrong way just days after Beckham went to Miami and rode on a boat.
“Would I prefer that Odell didn’t already have travel plans set up when we should be focusing on a playoff game?” said a team source. “Sure. But different players going about things different ways. I’m sure he’ll stop doing this kind of stuff as he matures.”
Beckham will reportedly be joined on the flight by teammates including Victor Cruz, Sterling Shephard and Roger Lewis will also travel with him to one of the world’s most cosmopolitan destinations. But one name that will also will join them — franchise quarterback Eli Manning — is raising concerns about Beckham’s influence.
“I’m worried that Odell has become a negative impact on this team,” said a Giants staffer. “Eli is not the kind of player to normally do this kind of thing, but it’s looking like he caved to peer pressure. I really worry about the future of this team.”
A spokesperson from Green Bay’s Austin Straubel International Airport confirmed that such a flight is scheduled to fly to New York Sunday night.
“Oh, we’re a small airport, so we notice those kinds of flights leaving here,” said the spokesperson. “They don’t happen much. Maybe about 16 or so times a year at most.”
