USOC hits Ryan Lochte with 3-year suspension from Olympics

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Ryan Lochte is beginning to be feel the repercussions from his drunken actions and “over exaggerated” story from the Rio Olympics. Swimwear sponsor Speedo dropped Lochte today as an endorsement partner, and that financial hit to the swimmer was followed by a blow to his competition future with the United State Olympic Committee announcing the 12-time Olympic medalist will be banned from competing in the Olympics through 2019.

“A three-year ban is the longest we’ve ever levied for an American athlete,” USOC chairman Larry Probst said in announcing the punishment. “This shows how seriously we take what occurred in Rio.”

The ban means Lochte will not be able to swim at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeonchang, South Korea. Swimming is not part of the Winter Games, but Lochte said today that the idea of “swimming in ice seems cool as hell. I’m disappointed.”

And while Speedo dropped Lochte, he said he still has his relationship with the genital herpes medication brand Valtrex.

“I got some Valtrex at CVS today,” he said. “They didn’t try to stop me or anything. Jeah! Jeahnital herpes! Jeah!”
