THE 2019–20 NBA SEASON MAY NOT BE OFFICIALLY OVER, but we don’t know when or if the season will be back. COVID-19 has the season in suspension, and it could be months until basketball is back. When it does return, we may not get much more regular season hoops, if any, with the need for a shortened playoffs and offseason.

And let’s face it: that sucks. It wasn’t supposed to happen this way. We should’ve been ignoring this final month of meaningless NBA for a few weeks with March Madness, then parachuting in for two months of playoff ball. We aren’t. We may not for a long time. It stinks.

We need a silver lining. The 2019–20 regular season is more or less a wrap, with those final 15-to-17 games surely abandoned for the playoffs when we do return. That means it’s award season, time to look back and evaluate the NBA season that was. Even if we do get a handful more regular season games, these awards won’t change at this point.

Today, we start by looking back at last year’s top-heavy draft class. I named All-Sophomore Teams last year and in 2018, and it’s interesting looking back. Every player from those classes that’s a good now already showed quite a bit their sophomore season. Names like Bam Adebayo, Pascal Siakam, Brandon Ingram, and…
