Part 1 of 2

Tonight, in Philadelphia, the Eagles and Cowboys begin the 126th Season of the National Football League, culminating in Super Bowl LX (60) on February 8, in Santa Clara, California.

You have no doubt read the previews in The Athletic, Deadspin, The Ringer and a thousand other sites. Mine might look and feel the same as the others, but I’ve been in NFL locker rooms, seen teams go to the playoffs and win and lose. I’ve seen coaches have temper tantrums that would put a seven-year-old to shame and grown men in every conceivable emotional state you can imagine and some you can’t. Vindictive owners who have no clue and those who think they know everything.

That introduction done, lets get to the season ahead. The league is deep in talent and as many as half the 32 teams have Super Bowl aspirations. I see six with legitimate reason, two with potential and three surprise teams who could upset everyone’s plans to head to Santa Clara in seven months.

The Contenders -

  1. Philadelphia Eagles — The defending champions still have Jalen Hurts and the talent to become back-to-back winners, just like Kansas City did in 2023/24. Will they? We’ll see.
  2. Buffalo Bills — It’s Josh Allen’s world and we’re just living in it. Is this the year the Bills finally get past the Chiefs and Baltimore, or will…
