Tom Brady took on Roger Goodel and the NFL… and won. The 4 game suspension over deflategate has been tossed out by the judge hearing the lawsuit Brady filed against the NFL.

The two sides had failed to come to an agreement after days of discussion, at the judge’s request, so federal judge Richard Berman made his ruling. Berman said he found significant legal deficiencies in the NFL’s case, including:

  • Inadequate notice to Brady of both his potential discipline (four-game suspension) and his alleged misconduct
  • Denial of the opportunity for Brady to examine one of two lead investigators, namely NFL Executive Vice President and General Counsel Jeff Pash
  • Denial of equal access to investigative files, including witness interview notes.
