Sports bettors were caught in the midst of the 2020 NFL season ending and the start of the XFL. The XFL proved that football was still king, and bettors couldn’t get enough of it. With the cancellation of pretty much all sports in the next coming months *cough cough* (COVID), sports ethusiast are left in the dust with Russian ping-pong.

Well.. kind of.

The developers of EA Madden have created a game so close to the real deal that the game has accurately predicted the Super Bowl 9 of the last 12 years. Crazy right?! Now imagine betting on this.

I know what you’re thinking… Yes, wagering on E-Sports has been around for years, but this is different. Instead of betting on the gamers’ play calling decisions, you can bet on the most accurate computer simulation to football. EA Madden 20 simulates the winner of two teams with no human influence, no bias, and “funny business.”

Let me break it down.

Let’s run a rematch of Superbowl LIV (Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco 49ers). Now slap a spread on it, the 49ers giving 3 points (the same line as the Superbowl). Do you think the outcome will be the same? Now… Would you like to bet on that?! Hell yeah! I got the Niner Gang winning this time around for a hundo.

I’ve been betting on Madden Sims since it’s very first week of existence. At first I was unsure of it all and felt this was for the degenerate gambler going through hardcore withdrawals. However, after a month into it — I have completely changed my mind! You know that feeling of winning some serious money on NFL Sunday watching the Packers beat the Cowboys on Lambeau field in a snow game. Picture being able to do this every day during quarantine. F*cking awesome right?!

Madden Simulation Game Rules

The sportsbook I use puts out their schedule of games with odds and weather conditions the night before, and they are all streamed from beginning to end on Twitch. Surprisingly, what makes this all more enjoyable is being a part of the live chat with the other bettors. There is something truly pure about rooting for the “over total” with a bunch of other bettors while shit talking the opposing side. It’s like a live Twitter feed on steroids.

The audience and bettors keep increasing each day. At one point I saw over 5,000 viewers in a stream, most claiming to have a wager on the game. According to the sportsbook I use, they are now seeing the same action during an average baseball season.

These football games may be dubbed as “video games”, but it couldn’t be any realer. It puts you on the same emotional roller coaster as Tom Brady and the Patriots drive down the field with 2 minutes left. This is no doubt the definition of fantasy meeting reality.

I highly believe betting on Madden Sims will open the door for more sports gaming simulations to be accepted. Is this here to stay even when the NFL and most major sports return? Who knows. But as more bettors start to discover this new form of betting, this for now will be our norm.
