Is Kevin Durant the new Derrick Rose?

In case you have been in a coma for the past 24 hours, the NBA just received its biggest injury news of the season: Kevin Durant could be out for a LONG TIME. Here is the injury below.

The Warriors PR twitter account released this announcement regarding the Kevin Durant injury:

This is not great news for the highly-touted Warriors team looking to avenge its NBA Finals loss last season, given that Durant is the leading scorer averaging 25.8 points per game. The Warriors organization is hopeful he will return for the playoffs, but this issue may just be bigger than a one-season fiasco. Durant is trending in the wrong direction in the injury department.

Before this major injury, Durant’s last major injury occurred in the 2014–2015 season, when he suffered a Jones Fracture in his right foot, and was ruled out from March 27, 2015 to the end of the season. Although that was terrible for that specific season, there was fear that this injury could ultimately make a bigger impact beyond just that season.

Before that major injury, Durant had only missed 16 games out of 631 games. That’s impressive for a seven-season stretch in the NBA. However, this is now the second major injury that Durant has experienced within three seasons.

Given Durant’s 6'9" and 240 lbs frame, he has the appearance that he is fragile. People have known that Durant probably wouldn’t pack on much muscle throughout his career, especially considering he couldn’t even bench press 185 pounds in the NBA combine. But, perhaps Durant’s durability should be put into question.

Is Durant experience the “Derrick Rose curse”?
