NFL OPENING SUNDAY CAME AND WENT WITHOUT A HITCH, at least in a pandemic sense. There were plenty of hitches if you’re a fan of the Colts, Eagles, or Cowboys. Last year’s NFC champ San Francisco is 0–1 at the bottom of its division, and the presumed worst two teams in the NFL, Jacksonville and Washington, are both 1–0.

The NFL is always topsy-turvy and unpredictable, and there’s nothing like waiting eight months for football then wildly overreacting to everything we see in a one-game sample. Still, each NFL game is 6.25% of the whole, not insignificant, and this was our first real football with no preseason action.
