IT’S AUGUST, SO WHY NOT CREATE AND DEBATE AN ALL-DECADE TEAM? The decade isn’t quite finished, but we have only a few mostly irrelevant regular season months of NBA remaining, so we may as well look back at a decade of basketball, beginning with the 2009–10 season and finishing with the Toronto Raptors as NBA champions. It’s still pretty fun and weird to type out.
The NBA named its own All-Decade team with LeBron James front and center on the First-Team All-2010s along with Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kawhi Leonard. Heck of a team! But did they get it right?
The official NBA picks started out pretty good, stayed mostly strong on Second Team outside of the weird Melo selection, and then went completely off the rails by the Third Team. For my picks, my only restrictions were needing two guards and two forwards plus a wildcard for each team. Beyond that, I just wanted the best players from the decade who best told the story of the 2010s. Let’s get to the rosters. But first, here are the NBA’s official picks…
