Air Jordan had some of the most memorable performances in basketball history

Michael Jordan has been a fixture in global culture for well over three decades due to his transcendent play on the basketball court and enduring presence in the business world. However, the NBA legend’s star will shine even brighter with ESPN’s 10-part documentary series “The Last Dance,” covering his last championship season (1997–98) with the Chicago Bulls, set to drop April 19th. In a career defined by many great moments, which were his best? In no particular order, here are the five greatest.

The Flu Game, June 11, 1997: Entering Game Five of the 1997 NBA Finals, the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz were knotted at two games apiece. Approaching tip-off, the Bulls got a shock as Jordan was horribly sick with the flu. Although some have speculated that his illness may have been more due to a late night out than a virus, he was not feeling well when play got underway. It didn’t seem to matter, as the star shooting guard dropped 38 points in 44 minutes. Chicago took home their fifth title in Game Six behind Jordan’s 39 points.
