We’re already over a quarter of the way through the NBA season, and it’s never too early to start thinking about those NBA All-Star ballots. The league changed the format this year so teams will be chosen in a schoolyard pick’em, but they’re still taking 13 guys from the East and 13 from the West. And, thanks in part to all the injuries piling up and to the East finally showing up for a season, it’s not as lopsided as everyone expected.

So with 20 to 25 games under every team’s belt and a quality sample size, let’s take a look around the league to see where things stand at the quarter quell. We’ll select five All-Star starters and eight bench spots based only on production these first two months, not on past accolades and with no regard for potential regression or picks that might look silly in February.

We named our 13 Eastern All-Stars yesterday. Let’s head out West…

The Starting Five

James Harden

Let’s start with the quarter-season MVP.
