They’re Back!
With the NBA season starting in just a couple weeks, I wanted to take time to discuss three players that I’m excited to see return from injury.
As much as a lot of NBA fans hated their dominance, the “Splash Brothers” are one of the greatest duos we’ve ever seen, and is THE greatest shooting backcourt in NBA history. Of course last season was forgettable for Golden State with Klay recovering from ACL surgery, and then Steph breaking his hand. They ultimately ended up in the lottery with the 2nd pick in the draft and with Klay coming back next season, the Warriors championship window was still open. But when news broke that Klay would miss the 2020-21 season with a torn achilles, I’m expecting a MVP caliber season from Steph.
As frustrating as it is to watch Steph cook an entire defense, I’m more than excited to see him return and try to lead the Warriors to the playoffs without Klay. In 2019, Steph averaged 27.3 PPG on 47/43/91 shooting splits and with him only playing five games last season, the numbers above are what I’m expecting to see.
The Wizards were a team you could not sleep on when they had both Beal and Wall out there. John Wall unfortunately has hit a rough patch over the past couple years with injuries. But when he’s healthy, he’s a top five PG in the league. The last time Wall played was in 2018-19 where he averaged 20.7 PPG & 8.7 APG on 44% shooting from the field. Now a member of the Rockets, Wall has a fresh start, and with all the time off that he’s had, you have to believe that he’s more than 100%. Regardless if Harden stays in Houston or not, Rockets fans should be excited about Wall.
My Brooklyn Nets are lucky to have one of the illest players to ever touch the court in Kevin Durant returning this upcoming season. We all know that Durant is coming off a achilles injury that he suffered in game 6 in the 2019 NBA finals. Just like wall, KD has had a bunch of time off and according from both teammates, opposition, and former players. KD is back, and that’s scary. Durant is a walking 35-40 point game just waiting to happen, and there is literally nobody in the NBA that can guard him. Expect an MVP season from this man as well, as there are plenty of people who have clearly forgotten just how deadly he his on the court.
I’m more than excited for the 2020-21 NBA season to get started and I’m hoping that these three guys along with the entire NBA family stays healthy, because the game is not the same without Curry, Wall, and Durant.
