Russia is putting itself on the SportsTech map

On December 11, the Hyatt Regency Moscow Petrovsky Park hosted the award ceremony for the CSTSC (Continental Sport Tech Startup Challenge) competition of sports and technology startups.

The organizer of the competition is Sport Tech Innovation Group, a private group of companies founded in 2019 to search for and develop innovative solutions in the field of sports. The competition was held as part of the national independent award in the field of sports business achievements BISPO Awards.

The event was opened by Co-Founder and Managing Partner Dmitry Maslennikov, who welcomed the guests to the awards.

What followed were various awards for a broad range of startups in different categories, each presented by different partners.

Avangard Hockey Club awards Picvario

  • About the project: Corporate Media Library
  • Award: Commercial contract for the use of a startup product

Russian Tennis Federation awards Track.tennis

  • About the project: Video recording and tennis data tracking system
  • Award: Launch of a pilot project for testing technology with scalability + Invitation to tennis Kremlin Cup tournament

Skolkovo Foundation awards Heart.Zone

  • About the project: Technology for continuous monitoring of the cardiovascular system through various items of sports equipment
  • Reward: Free invitation cards for all Skolkovo Foundation events + Stand at the Startup Village conference in May

Parimatch Russia awards idChess

  • About the project: Platform for the recognition and analytics of chess data
  • Reward: Grant of 500,000 rubles for an advertising digital campaign

G-Drive Racing awards FNRG

  • About the project: A multifunctional platform that allows you to integrate online communities into a digital infrastructure to promote promising project initiatives and introduce innovations in the sports industry.
  • Award: Commercial contract for the use of a startup product

Higher School of Economics National Research University Business Incubator awards Fastserve

  • About the project: Saas Stadium Food Delivery Platform
  • Reward: Free Startup Acceleration Program

Innovation center of the Russian Olympic Committee awards inmotion

  • About the project: Inmotion is the first Russian tracking system (movement and biometrics) for athletes in team sports.
  • Award: Professional recommendation of the innovation center and implementation in the practical work of the Center

Sports Marketing Lab Sellout Sport System awards e-Champs

About the project: CRM for managing events and preserving the results of athletes.

Award: A set of consulting services in one of the pilot regions with the aim of introducing and packaging a successful business case

InStat awards YoPlayDo

  • About the project: Football platform for accounting data and player statistics
  • Award: Expertise, mentoring and development assistance with the potential of a startup offer

Worldclass Fitness Corporation awards S10.run

  • About the project: Platform for distance running training
  • Award: Proposal to launch a joint pilot project in a WordClass clubs chain

Nielsen awards SportRecs

  • About the project: Service for sports copyright holders and sports publishers, which helps the first to bring the audience to the page they need, and the second — to receive sports highlights and videos on a single platform
  • Award: Providing access to analytical data and research of a fan audience in Russia, to identify promising market segments

Continental Hockey League awards Game Intelligence Program

  • About the project: A program for the development of professional athletes with extra-game skills: financial and legal literacy, the development of communication skills, the formation of a personal brand and reputation, long-term career planning
  • Award: Support for promoting the program in KHL clubs with scalability

Winstrike eSports holding awards Ferretvideo

  • About the project: Service for creating marketing games, quests and surveys based on video
  • Award: Certificate for strategic partnership with Winstrike holding (gives the right to test the product of a startup-winner based on our resources + holding a hackathon at our Winstrike Arena e-sports center in the Central House of Sports on Lubyanka)

PwC awards Learn2Play

  • About the project: International e-sports company EdTech, offering players a platform to improve their skills
  • Award: Certificate for 20 hours of counseling from the PwC advisory team

Russian football union awards inmotion

  • About the project: Inmotion is the first Russian tracking system (movement and biometrics) for athletes in team sports.
  • Award: Proposal for investment in a startup with subsequent support for its development and promotion

A region to watch

This was probably the first event of its kind in Russia. We’re curious to see what STIG can achieve in 2020 and the upcoming years with its strong setup of partners and a valuable network and how this affects Russia’s standing in the world of SportsTech. A first good step is definitely made!
