Recap of the FitTech Summit Startup competition
On July 10th the first FitTech Summit took place in Munich, a conference devoted to fitness innovation, health & lifestyle. The event was organised by Burda Bootcamp, the startup lab of Hubert Burda Media, one of Europe’s largest family-owned tech and media companies. The program was divided into a main stage with the keynotes and panels, an activity stage to experience workouts, and an exhibition area, where various startups and companies presented their products and services. The event took place at a fabulous beach style location with lots of sand (www.beach38.de), fitting well to the overall topic and giving the event a nice touch and atmosphere.
The pitch competition
Naturally I had a special interest in the startup competition, which was taking place at the end of the day and right before the public viewing and BBQ time. 10 startups in the sports, fitness and wellbeing sector were selected before the event and had the chance to pitch in front of a jury, consisting of Michael Diederich (Spokesman of the Management Board, HypoVereinsbank), Camilla Dolan (Principal, Burda Principal Investments), Jens Pippig (Managing Director, ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator), Philipp Walter (Head of Marketing, DACH, Under Armour). Fun fact: All presenters were equipped with a heart rate sensors which sent live data to the screen during their presentations, and the “coolest” one won a prize sponsored by Polar.
The startups
These are the startups of the competition in alphabetical order:

Braineffect: Performance & recovery products, helping customers to utilize their mental potentials fully with innovative ingredients & training concepts.
Buah: Freeze-dried fruit and vegetable mixes for your enjoyment. Like freshly picked.
cosinuss°: cosinuss° developes mobile health solutions together with innovative In-Ear Wearables. Because vital data from you is the premise for your health insights.
Evalu: Find out how you run with the help of the intelligent sole and receive training instructions and advice in a personal coaching talk, individually tailored to your needs.
Fitfox: Short term passes for gyms and yoga classes.
LOEWI: Professional blood analysis and individualised nutrition supply.
Mommymove: Personalized training plans and short workouts tailored to the special needs and everyday life of moms. Already usable shortly after delivery.
Primed Mind: Mindset coaching combines the elements of meditation, hypnotherapy and life coaching, creating a structure that is aimed to help you achieve your goals.
And the winner is…
…Bikemap! They won the a wild card to negotiate a €1M deal with Germany’s leading private TV network ProSieben Sat1. Congratulations!
The second place went to Mommymove and the third place went to Fitfox.

Oh boy, what a nice event this FitTech Summit in Munich was. Lots of fresh new speakers who I haven’t seen/heard before and finally a really diverse lineup and audience. I had the chance to contribute to the investment panel, where we talked about current trends and, of course, the bright future of FitTech :) Thanks for having me!
