Of tokens and timings

Our token crowdsale begins and ends not on an exact time point, but on an exact block mined in the Ethereum blockchain. How to calculate it? And how to see the SPF tokens received in your wallet?

On what block numbers do contribution bonuses and the Token Crowdsale end

People closely following the SportyFi Token Crowdsale probably remember how it started (well, it was only two days ago) — with a delay. This was not due to a technical glitch or an error on our part, but due to the inherent attributes to the Ethereum blockchain. Each block should, on average, take 10 seconds to mine. In the last couple of days, the mining is slower — on average almost 50% slower, and during some time periods even three times slower, and it takes 30 seconds to mine a block — which can cause delays when timings are hardcoded to specific blocks (as they should be, in our opinion).

When finalizing our smart contract, we hardcoded these block numbers serving as timestamps into the smart contract:

  • Block 4,595,138 started the SPF Token Crowdsale.
  • Block 4,615,076 is when the 10% bonus for contributions ends (only contributions over ETH 100 get the bonus later in the sale).
  • Block 4,708,120 is when the SportyFi Token Crowdsale ends.

You can always check the current block number on Ethereum Network Status. At the time of writing this we’re at block number 4,608,870. So there’s some time left to pick up the bonus!

The end of the crowdsale (and end of the bonus) can therefore not be calculated to a specific second — but they can be expected on the specific block mentioned. An approximate timer will be available the whole time on our SportyFi Token Crowdsale website, with the current and milestone block numbers highlighted.

How to add SPF Tokens to MyEtherWallet (MEW)

Most of our contributors use MEW to contribute to the campaign. As the SPF Token is the new kid on the block, it’s not set up automatically in your wallet — yet. You can always check the SPF Token transaction when you receive the tokens on the Ethereum Block Explorer, but most (us included) prefer to see the SPF Tokens, as we are all used to, in the wallet balance.

So how do you do that?

  • Go to MyEtherWalet and choose the »Add Custom Token« button.
  • In the field “Token Contract Address” enter: 0x85089389c14bd9c77fc2b8f0c3d1dc3363bf06ef
  • In the field “Token Symbol” enter: SPF
  • In the field “Decimals” enter: 18

Click on the “Save” button and that’s it! The SPF Token balance should be shown in your MEW wallet, along with any other tokens and coins you have in the wallet.
