This past weekend, Spotcoin sponsored the first NEO Black Sea Community Assembly. Ten NEO Projects from around the world gathered in Tbilisi, Georgia to share ideas, compare notes, and build a stronger NEO-based community. The Georgian Government representatives engaged with NEO developers and project representatives in search of ways to make digital currency and blockchain technology work for everyone.

Spotcoin CEO Tim Gick, who helped organize the NEO Black Sea Community, looked back on the event and shared his thoughts. “Spotcoin is immensely proud that almost 15% of the entire NEO Ecosystem participated in the Assembly. With so many projects on hand, we really feel that we are working toward a movement focused on bringing blockchain technology to everyone, especially those previously left out of the market,” Gick said.

“At Spotcoin, we want to ensure everyone has access to the new Smart Economy, including CEOs looking to connect with NEO management, developers wanting to work out issues with other developers, and policy makers who believe we can make digital currencies work for everyone. The Assembly showed how we are one step closer to making it a reality.”

For us, we gained insight, support and friendships. But enough about us. What did everyone else get from the event? We asked a few participants to share their thoughts, and we are humbled by the response.

Black Sea Community

Imusify, a multifaceted music crypto-community platform, were on hand to engage with fellow NEO projects in the Black Sea. Imusify Representative David Walters highlighted the importance of the Black Sea community, a key focus of Spotcoin. He said “I think Spotcoin is pretty much a leader in the space. They’ve connected us together for this weekend, creating the Black Sea community…and getting us all involved. Creating the hackathon allows all of us to connect here in Georgia, in Tbilisi, which has been an amazing experience. [They connected] us to other projects and see what further use cases we can apply to our own project.”

Chris Dawe, CEO of Effect.ai, a decentralized network for artificial intelligence, was particularly inspired by the focus on regional communal development. He said “Spotcoin is truly the only project combining the growth of a project while at the same time building a major Blockchain movement within their region. Very inspiring.”

The Georgian government received special recognition from Raitis Kaucis CEO of Network.guru. He said, “As a foreign person, I got insight for business environment in Georgia from government representatives and foreign business people with experience in establishing companies in Georgia.” The Georgian Government’s openness, availability, blockchain friendly environment will encourage future business relationships, a win-win for Spotcoin and Georgia.

Value & Connection

Mark Jeffrey, CEO of Guardium Circle, a lifesaving emergency management app, echoed this thought. He said “For us, we don’t really interact with a lot of NEO people directly. There just aren’t very many in the Los Angeles area. So, this is the first time we’ve been in a room where everyone’s NEO. For us to learn how other companies have attacked this same problems and challenges that all of us encounter was very valuable.”

NEO Health’s Laurent David focused on value. As a company focused on using blockchain technology to back up electronic medical records, David was most excited by the opportunity to connect with other companies and gain insight into integrating patient data with a blockchain in the NEO ecosystem. He said Spotcoin provided an assembly that “was quite a good meeting because we could make contact with other people, especially with others who work on the blockchain.”

Networking

Spotcoin sponsored the Assembly because we believe in the power of community networking. We are proud that attendees found value in that focus.

Dawe, CEO of Effect.ai, a decentralized network for artificial intelligence, was encouraged by the networking opportunity. “The value I gained from the Assembly was a new network of professionals working within my own ecosystem. It was great to hear the stories of founders and their journeys through the cryptoverse.”

Imusify Representative David Walters reaffirmed Dawe’s notion. “The best value we received over this weekend was getting to connect with other NEO projects and speaking to their team about their challenges and goals. And how we can align ourselves in the future as well as perfect what we’ve been doing.”

Ting Zhang from Alchemint, a stablecoin issuance platform build on NEO blockchain, also attended the Black Sea Assembly, where they found networking valuable to their future business opportunities. They said “We met with other projects, explored the possibilities to implementing our stablecoin in other project’s ecosystem.” Bridging the NEO community together was the single most valuable thing gained from the event and for us here at Spotcoin, we could not agree more. Listening to others, sharing ideas and making connections ensured success and lifelong relationships.

Opening Up Decentralized Apps

Capital and access to exchanges was a frequent topic at the Assembly. Jeffrey, CEO of Guardium Circle, encouraged us with his praise of our mission when he said “There is one big problem that all of us doing dApps has. [That] is the onramp of fiat to a NEP-5 token. [We need] some easy way to swipe a credit card and get a bunch of tokens that are applicable in your dApp. So, we are really looking forward to Spotcoin going live and putting that in our dApps to make that very easy. It’s very exciting.”

Raitis Kaucis CEO of Network.guru, a company focused on creating tool for merchants to easily design affiliate and referral plugins for their websites, also attended the Black Sea Assembly, and highlighted the potential behind decentralized apps. “Spotcoin has done very impressive and incredible job for NEO Community as private initiative and established a great tradition for NEO dApps to come together, share experiences and probably create more future cooperation plans.”

A Thanks

Our Hackathon winners, Georgian NEO Token, had high praise for Spotcoin and the events of the weekend. George Laghidze encouraged us as he said “I think about things and they do it. If they decide to do something, they do it They are super risky. Super talented. Their idea is way beyond.”

As we move toward our ICO, launching October 22nd, we recognize that success belongs to everyone: participants, developers, NEO officials, government representatives, and the community at large.

Before we sign off, we just want to thank each and every one of the 75 participants. It was a success because of you. 10 NEO Blockchain Projects were on hand. Over 16 nationalities were represented. Six government agencies were on hand to provide insight, along with 10 individual investors. 40% of our speakers were female, with 60% male. Our closest attendees came from right around the corner, but our furthest flew 11,437 Kilometers to join us. It was a representative event, demonstrating the potential of blockchain beyond borders. And it was just what we here at Spotcoin envisioned months ago when we began planning the event.

We would like to especially thank NEO Blockchain, Georgian American University, GeoLabs, GITA, nOS, and Effect.AI for all your help and support. Together, we are one step closer to making digital currencies work for everyone.
