🐦 The Early Bird Catches the Worm:

I for one am a Grinch in the morning, but in this podcast DJ swears that the key to his productivity during the holidays is getting up early. Waking up half-an-hour or an hour early to work on your side-hustle can give you a real leg up on your projects and make you feel productive for the whole day. In those early hours, there are far less distractions and your brain is fresh to jump right into your passion project. You can devote some positively productive time in the morning to getting real work done… and of course, it is helpful to bring coffee or at least a cool glass of water along for your morning motivation, so you can really “turn it up to eleven” on the awesome-o-meter at the start of your day.

For the fellow Grinches and Scrooges out there who can’t fathom getting up before the dawn, have no fear, there is an answer for you too, just head to tip number two.

🗓️ Schedule and Commit Your Time:

So, mornings aren’t your thing –or maybe they are– but you still can’t find the time to devote to working on your side-hustle with all the holiday hooplah and rushing around which is consuming most of your day-light hours. Stop saying “I’ll do it when I have time” and start saying “I have to do this. This is the time”. Start scheduling your time out, like an appointment with your doctor or with Michelle for one of those fancy holiday haircuts. Visually commit yourself to a schedule using a calendar or to-do list, and make it happen.

There are several online and offline ways to block off time and build a schedule for yourself, and many of them accomplish the same thing with respect to time management, so find one tool that works for you and start using it. The important thing is to actually commit the time with yourself to break away and focus. They say it takes about 28 days to change a habit, so for at least the next 28 days, block of 10mins a day, an hour a week, or whatever you can manage to actively work on your side-hustle. Creativity takes time, so make sure you’re giving yourself enough time to be creative by actively devoting time everyday, or at least every week, to work on the projects that have been sitting on that back burner. Believe us, it’s worth it.
