The second Halloween is over, bells start ringing, Black Friday is on the mind and holiday ads are EVERYWHERE. It’s officially time to start preparing your online store for holiday success!

More and more consumers are holiday shopping from the comfort of their home. Why deal with crowds when you can just order online? So, how can you prepare your eCommerce store for the hustle and bustle of this holiday season?

From Sunshine to Snowflakes

Yes, I know it’s fall, but spring cleaning goes year-round. Right now, it’s out with the old and in with the new! This is the time to refresh your online store with a little holiday revamp!

Update Your Website’s Look and Feel

Start by updating your graphics and ads with a little holiday flare. Don’t be a Grinch and continue to use ads from summer. Create something new and catchy that coincides with holiday trends. If you’re trying to keep it simple, you can even recycle your current messaging and imagery, and just throw on a snowflake or some holly to make things a little more… merry!

Highlight New, Seasonal Products

Unless you live in southern California, there’s a good chance you’re going to refrain from buying your friends flip-flops for the holidays. Highlight seasonal products that consumers will crave this holiday season.

For example, if you have an online merchandise shop, sweatshirts and beanies should already be living on your homepage alongside your winter designs and holiday graphics. If a consumer comes to your shop and sees nothing but tank tops and palm trees, they’re going to think, “that is sooooo last season”. You don’t want to be that person, do you?

Get on the Black Friday Train

Yes, everybody likes a discount. Consumers will go broke saving money because a sale is just too tempting. Start planning for your holiday promotions sooner rather than later. Keep ahead of the game so you can offer the best promotions to your audience.

You should always be staying on top of seasonal trends, so you can stand out in the masses of eCommerce shops. Not only will your regular customers be visiting your shop, casual visitors and the trusty gift-buyers will too and it’s vital to cater to the needs of everyone. Good luck this holiday season. Happy selling!
