Our founder stories continue this week with Nodecraft, a gaming platform that wants to make it easy for everyone to play their favorite games. We are happy to introduce you to co-founder and CEO, Jonathan Yarbor.

Tell us about your Company

Nodecraft gives any gamer the power to instantly play their favorite games together in their own private & custom in-game worlds. Similar to why basketball players install a hoop in their driveway, getting your own game server lets you control how you play and who you play video games with.

One of the most unique parts of the Nodecraft experience is how simple it is to use. We see parents as just as able to set up worlds for their kids as hardcore gamers are.

How did your company get started?

I co-founded Nodecraft with my co-founder James Ross over the internet! We didn’t actually meet face-to-face for the first few years.

Together we built an online gaming community that served over 100,000 unique players by operating custom in-game worlds or servers. We collaborated and spent a ton of time and money on internal tooling to operate those game servers. We became frustrated that there wasn’t a company that made it easy to use, reliable, or even spent the time to build a real product to do this. It only made sense that as we continued to work on our own tooling and made prototypes, that we would be the ones that filled this gap and we created what eventually became Nodecraft.

Describe your current stage

Our entire team is focused on the growth of the company. We’re post-revenue and are growing revenue, customers, and our team every month!

What made you interested in joining the Sprint Accelerator?

Over 55% of all video game revenue is generated by mobile games. It’s only getting bigger every year, to the point that it’s challenging pre-existing platforms like the XBox, Playstation, or PC gaming. Before a technology like 5G there weren’t really any good options for mobile gaming should you stray away from a wifi signal.

Nodecraft is excited to partner with Sprint to be at the forefront of where online gaming meets mobile gaming.

What are your goals in being part of this program?

We’re really excited to continue to improve our team’s leadership, launch our venture fundraising, and build a relationship with the Sprint 5G team.

What has been your biggest takeaway or benefit from the program so far?

After taking some of the leadership assessments I’ve been able to take direct action with our team on areas that I hadn’t been focusing on yet. Also having the opportunity to pitch at the Dairy Farmer’s of America board meeting, and have them not only be able to understand what our company does but ask questions on top of that!

What has been the most exciting/fun/hilarious moment of the program so far?

We’ve had a very tight-knit cohort of founders that have really connected with each other. We’ve been able to unwind and experience Kansas City to the fullest on First Fridays, but then get back to business again on Monday. The culture of the program has been amazing!
