Two months ago, KYES (Kaduna Young Entrepreneurs Summit) partnered with Spurt! to hold a meeting for the brightest young minds in entrepreneurship in Kaduna state. In a move that bodes well for the state’s economic future, it was refreshing to see more people take the initiative to facilitate and enhance a budding culture of entrepreneurial industry steadily sweeping across northern Nigeria.

To put it mildly, advancement in Kaduna’s - and by extension, northern Nigeria’s - startup culture has been painfully slow for several years. Thankfully, huge strides are being made to ensure that the region is not left behind, and while promoting and facilitating investment (with commendable work being done by agencies such as KADIPA) has been heralded as key to continued growth, the significance of platforms such as KYES cannot be overemphasised.
