Act like His Name depends on it.

Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
 — Matthew 6:9 | ESV

Every person has a last name that’s given to us at birth. That name represents our father, and even if we have similar last names, who our father is, gives us distinction. Our actions reflect the reputation and integrity of this name. With God it’s no different. We represent Him. And our actions can affect His reputation and integrity.

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”― Mahatma Gandhi

In some cases, we are the only picture people have of what Christ is like. And it’s sobering to think that our behaviours, attitudes and thoughts can either sully or glorify the Name of God to an unbelieving world.

Jesus is the prime example of how we should live life to best represent God and here’s how He did it: “If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15). We honour God’s Name in our words, thoughts and deeds. We have a reputation to uphold, because we don’t just carry our name, we carry His too.

Did your Behaviour, Attitude and Thoughts honour or dishonour God today? Take a minute and ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
