What If The Biggest Decisions Of Your Life You Didn’t Even Know You Made?
When one small choice can change the course of your life
Beep, beep, beep.
My alarm blares at me incessantly. I turn over in the still pitch-black room and reach my hand out for my phone.
5:30am
The time I need to be up to get to work. The time that is much too early for my still exhausted body. I yawn, roll over in bed and open up my phone. Mindlessly I check my apps, scrolling without really thinking. My brain is only half awake.
Twenty minutes later, I am still in bed.
I swear, close my phone, and rush around the house trying to get ready as fast as possible. When I am finally sitting in my car, ready to leave, I am 30 minutes behind schedule.
I turn on the radio, and instead of the music I am expecting, I hear a traffic report. Multi-car pileup on the highway. I listen for the location — it is about 30 minutes ahead of me, right on the route I take each morning.
I guess I am going to be even more late, I think. Then it hits me.
If I had followed my normal routine, I would be 30 minutes farther up the road. I may have seen the crash.
