Google Cloud Migration Center is a new service designed to help organizations streamline their process of migrating and modernizing their infrastructure and applications to the cloud.
It provides a centralized, data-driven experience within the Google Cloud console with a range of tools and resources to assist with discovery, analysis, planning, and migration.
Some of the key highlights of the service include
- All-in-one console-integrated portal for migration and modernization.
- Quick estimates for running your workloads in Google Cloud with minimal user input. These estimates will include the right sizing and the right mix of Google Cloud infrastructure and are built on editable assumptions from actual customer migrations.
- Easier discovery and assessment with in-console asset inventory reports that provide insights and best-path recommendations for migrating to VMs, containers, databases, dedicated hardware, and managed services.
- Prescriptive guidance documentation based on best practices for migration planning and execution, distilled from Google Professional Services’ real-world migrations.
- Migration execution launchpad for getting started with proven tools like Migrate to Containers, the Database Migration Service, and Migrate to Virtual Machines — which recently added a preview of migrating from AWS as a source.
- Customers and partners can use a common API surface to enable ecosystem integrations.
Google Cloud’s Migration Center and Rapid Assessment & Migration Program (RAMP) help customers quickly and securely migrate a significant number of workloads to Google Cloud, with the goal of reducing the time, energy, and cost of these projects.
RAMP is a framework based on customer TCO and ROI analyses that support customers’ journeys to Google Cloud, and the Customer Onboarding Program allows qualified workloads to be migrated with the Technical Onboarding Center at no charge.
