Year 9 SRC Executives: Kunal Gupta and Adrian Nguyen

Year 9’s have one power that no other year level has — we can choose our destiny here at MHS from beginning to end.

That’s why as the year 9 SRC team we are dedicated to implementing as many events and competitions as possible to make your four-year journey at MHS memorable and action-packed from the very beginning.

This year, we will be using ‘YOURS’, a student-led blog as our primary method of communication between the student body and the SRC. We will use Medium to post blogs and all the latest news, so be sure to regularly check for information and updates.

Our Vision in 2020:

Year 9 SRC Team

As year 9s, we don’t have great power to make changes within the school and its structure, but we do have the ability to organize and form as many events and competitions as we want for the year. Consequently, our aim for the year is to keep the year 9 cohort as engaged as possible throughout the year.

Confirmed Events:

The first thing to occur is the Year 9 Form Cup which will run throughout 2020 including activities like dodgeball, chess, and 3v3 basketball.

Before the end of Term 1, we will be hosting a Super Smash Bros tournament which contributes to the cup. This is to occur at recess and lunch for three days starting from the 18th of March. Each class will nominate three students that will compete and spectators are welcome to come and cheer their classmates on. There is a post on the MHS Class of 2023 with all the information you need to know.

Other Potential Plans:

  • Trivia Night / Concert Night with MacRob TBC (This may be combined with year 10 as we have been allocated a date for a junior event to occur)
  • Constant Fundraisers (may include casual clothes day etc.)
  • End of year Outing / Fun day
  • Construe a system that allows students to borrow sport equipment
  • Amazing race for Form Cup
  • Transition into year 10 — VCE & Electives suggestions from previous year 10’s

Thank you for reading! We look forward to having an unforgettable year!

Your Year 9 SRC Execs,

Kunal and Adrian :)
