Sabbatical Begins: August 15, 2016

After a wonderful last Sunday at both Lebanon Chapel and St. James where I baptized three babies, I said goodbye to my St. James family to begin my sabbatical. After a 13 1/2 hour drive (getting through Virginia was horrific) Kathleen and I arrive at 1:30 a.m. In Orient Point, New York. Orient Point is as east as you can go on Long Island before the Atlantic Ocean and Europe. I am beginning my time away by visiting our dear friends Larry and Jeanne Provanzano. Larry is completing his sabbatical this month from his ministry as Bishop of Long Island. The weather is magnificent! Warm and sunny with low humidity! I can already feel more relaxed and laughed so much as we reminisced about our years of friendship and shared stories about our families, especially our grandsons. And yes, we did talk church!

Ron Abrams is the rector of St. James.
