“Every great design begins with an even better story.” — Lorinda Mamo, designer

Today, I want to analyze this fantastic and powerful poster which I was in love with it when my first glance. To promote the pet adoption event held by the Mumbai animal caring group World For All, photographer Amol Jadhav and art director Pranav Bhide created these beautiful images to inspire people adopting pets. As I am an animal person, not only I want to analyze these images but also want to advertise the adoption spirit.

Grid System

To be clarity and message clear, the grid system in this poster is simply divided into three parts.

Hierarchy

First, to make the message clear, the dog shape is at the center of the poster so that people can see it first. Second, the slogan and other information are all in the right corner. People will know the meaning in the slogan after seeing and feeling the spirit from the image, which makes the slogan more powerful.

Typefaces

The typefaces of the slogan are different from the information. Besides, the slogan in bold and upper case shows the importance, so that people can notice easily.

Color

It’s genius that they use lighting techniques to create an optical illusion and let two images in one. The contrast of the dark and bright color is strong so that you can see both images clearly. Also, the bright and white color is a symbol of positive and hopes. The tone of the poster is warm and happiness which gives people a thought that adopting pets is positive.

Good design tells a story

I think the series of the poster is a great design not only it works good in the principles of design I mentioned above, but also the images work so match with the slogan “There’s always room for more adopt.”. The composition of the people in the images creates the illusion “room” for the pet, and different images shape different kinds of pets. The most important thing is that this poster was effective! The attendance of the events boosted by 150% and had 42 adoptions successfully.
