EthCC 2019 Recap
Earlier this month, we participated and sponsored the second edition of EthCC Paris (5–7 March 2019). As expected, this was one of the best event of the year, and certainly a great opportunity to meet and share good moments with this community we love. A lot happened that week: Loom Network, Crypto Wars, RaveCC, Burner Wallet, … — let’s recap.
4 March 2019: D-1
Tomorrow is D-day, and we all want to look sharp as we are in Paris after all. Last minute trip to the barber? 💈
Stake Capital has got your back (and head), with 10% off at a Hipster Barber nearby:
We rapidly got happy customers, such as our friend jerome de tychey, President of AssethFR. Proof-of-Groom submitted, looking sharp, we are ready for EthCC! ☑️
5 March 2019: D-day!
Loom Network
Working hard the night before, we launched our Loom validation services just in time 🔥 …
… and rapidly received our first delegation of 5 Loom token ($0.33). 💣
The growth has been exponential since then, and we are proud to provide a reliable infrastructure for over 2.8M Loom tokens 🛠 — if you want to delegate as well, you can go to our Telegram for friendly tech support!
Thanks to Georgios Konstantopoulos and the whole Loom Team for their support on this journey that is just getting started. 🤺
Later this morning, Matias Nisenson shared his experience leading Experimental’s Crypto Wars over the past 12 months, a blockchain game leveraging Loom’s plasma chain with 3,000 players, and with no ICO! 🙌
We loved their vision, and as soon as we heard they were organising a special tournament for EthCC, we were happy to sponsor it...
… and try to win it, so we assembled the first Crypto Wars Pro Team.
Time for some nice coffee? Stake Capital has got your back!
The organisation did an amazing job at organising this event, providing good filter coffee (a.k.a Juice of Socks which Leopold Joy seems to love).
For those with very delicate palate, we provided discounts for ethCC badge holders at a Cafe nearby. ☕️
6 March 2019: Day 2
In the second day, we focused on listening to the great speakers and meeting more friendly people — more exciting news to be announced in the coming weeks.
The second half of the day was dedicated to RaveCC preparation, the official after-after party sponsored by Stake Capital, and co-organised by Kaiko, Tenderly & Stake Capital.
We knew our friend Austin Griffith was in town, and we decided it would be great to use his xDai burner wallet 🔥 to allow people to use Dai at the party. What better way to boost crypto adoption and awareness than giving crypto in the hands of crypto people ..? 😁
It all started with the main man, Austin Thomas Griffith, who was really impressed by our last minute plan. We were going to give each RaveCC participant their own xDai wallet. We were going to generate and print 200 of them. By tomorrow. A full recap of our Burner Wallet experience will be published soon, stay tuned!
As Day 2 was coming to an end at Paris’ Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, our CEO participated in a memorable panel organised by the Aave team.
Open Finance & Governance Panel
Taylor Monahan, Julien Bouteloup, Toni Lane, TLC and makoto_inoue shared their insight on Open Finance and Governance ; moderated by Maria Paula Fernández (keeping the conversation as focused as could be in Toni’s Ted Talk) and MP’s dog Tupac 🐕, preventing Vinay Gupta from bringing food to the panelists. 😂 A lot happened in that panel …
7 March 2019: Final Day
Similarly to Day 2, we split our time between conferences and organising RaveCC and the burner wallets.
With Game of Stakes that had finished a few weeks before, and with our Cosmos validation services ready, we took the opportunity to catch-up in person and organise a Cosmos Guardians’ Secret Lunch. We are now accepting delegation on Cosmos as well, and you are welcome on our Telegram for any questions.
RaceCC
We started sharing more details about the event throughout the afternoon, until the big news dropped: Stake Capital, Maker Dao, and Burner Wallet were partnering to sponsor Dai for the party. ✌️
We had $1,200 in Dai to split between ~200 wallets. We generated 200 wallets manually (one pdf with a QR code each — again, full story to follow) and printed them for the night.
RaveCC aftermaths
The party was great and the burner wallets a success!! 🎈🍺🤩
We left a couple burner wallets at the event, and the post-party treasure hunt began, most of which was collected by Sylvain Laurent👇 — enjoy the Dai mate! 👌
Crypto Wars Allegations
Whilst preparing the burner wallets, we received a number of allegations against Stake Capital’s Crypto Wars Pro Team, claiming that we were coordinating attacks against other players. We had to stop everything and respond to these outrageous claims 🎙
Closing Thoughts
We had a lot of fun in Paris, where we met great people, some of which who will join the Stake Capital movement — follow us on Twitter to be the first to know. 😎
Thanks to the Asseth team for organising such an amazing conference. We will be back for #EthCC3!
