Stake Capital is leading the charge by supporting the Web3 Foundation and Parity Technologies to secure Alexander and Kusama.

Stake Capital is excited to announce being selected to secure Kusama, a canary network for Polkadot, leading the way on experimental development with parachains. Kusama was announced by Parity and the Web3 Foundation as a testing ground for the Polkadot network that will receive early updates to allow for experimentation. It will be a proving ground for innovative ideas around upgradeable runtimes, on-chain governance, and parachains.

Kusama

Unlike a traditional test net, Kusama is meant to engage real economic conditions and will have a KSM, the native Kusama network token, distribution that is congruent to the official DOT distribution. The Web3 Foundation has also reserved 100,000 DOTs (or 1% of total supply at launch) for incentivizing the Kusama community and stakeholders.

There will be no central control switch and the validators will be naturally distributed is a similar manner to live Polkadot. KSM holders will conduct governance over the network, on-chain, through the proposal system, electing council members and parachain auctions.

Securing the Network

With great power comes great responsibility. Token holders who delegate to Stake Capital are trusting us to be reliable, and we won’t disappoint them.

From integrating hardware security module (HSM) support directly into our Tier 3+ servers, to deploying cloud based sentry nodes across the globe to ensure uptime and minimise latency, Stake Capital does not compromise on security or reliability.

We have partnered with BSO, an award-winning Ethernet network, Cloud and Hosting provider. BSO provides dedicated and secure connectivity to our HSM-enabled servers for maximum security. In addition, we are working with two leading cloud providers (Amazon Web Services & Google Cloud) to provide optimal reliability.

Polkadot Making Milestones

Kusama is expecting to launch this summer and Stake Capital is ready for genesis. In the meantime Stake Capital set up a validator for Alexander, in its fourth iteration of Polkadot, which includes Nominated Proof of Stake (NPoS) and other validator improvements. They’re still on schedule for mainnet on Polkadot by the end of the year.

Polkadot is a parachain network created by Parity Technologies, with support from the Web3 Foundation. Parity also developed the Parity Ethereum and Bitcoin clients and previously deployed and validated the Kovan Ethereum testnet.

Web 3.0 Technologies Foundation nurtures and stewards technologies and applications in the fields of decentralised web software protocols. The Web3 Foundation hosts the Web3 Summit annually in Berlin supporting teams building the decentralised web.
