July 2020 Retrospective
In July we held the first ever StakerDAO community call, getting STKR holders, Council members and the Ops team together on a Zoom call that had a live broadcast on YouTube for the community! We also released an intro video for StakerDAO on our website and Youtube channel. Last but not least, Proposal #006 was approved — BLND is coming to Algorand!
StakerDAO First Community Call
On our call we had Nicola Santoni from Lemniscap, Jacob Phillips from Polychain, Luke Youngblood from Coinbase Custody, Spencer Noon from DTC Capital, and our very own, Jonas Lamis. The format of the call included a 10 minute StakerDAO update by Christian Arita, 15 minutes of prepared remarks by the Council, and 10 minutes of Q&A from the community for the Council and our team.
Christian reviewed the evolution of StakerDAO from launch until June 2020 when we announced the closing of our fundraising for STKR. Shifting to where we are today and where Blend is; Christian gave an update on the CoinList sale, and that we’ll also work to bring Blend to Tezos and the intended proposal to bring Blend to Algorand (We are happy to report that this was approved on Proposal #006 this month!).
Looking into the future, we discussed new products ideas. The main ideas on the call (and also across our communication channels) were stablecoins, including a stablecoin basket, or a continuance of baskets like one focused on DeFi projects. We were most excited about the idea of synthetic representations of layer one proof of stake tokens.
The main conclusion was that as we work with PoS protocols, we note a clear interest in all of the activities happening on Ethereum. We think StakerDAO is in a strong position to be a leader in bridging this activity and working across several chains. First, with Tezos and Algorand, but ultimately expanding to other interesting protocols.
The main discussion points on the call by the council and council representatives:
Polychain: Vision for StakerDAO
Coinbase Custody: Blend’s role in the (PoS) ecosystem
Lemniscap: Interest in StakerDAO and how it fits into their portfolio
DTC Cap: StakerDAO’s governance model
Jonas: Recap on BLND and governance and vision moving forward
We appreciate the community for joining the call and look forward to the next quarterly call.
BLND is coming to Algorand!
Proposal #006 on Algorand Development was submitted by Ops and approved by the Council. The primary purpose of this proposal is to formalize StakerDAO’s commitment to build on the Algorand network, initially through the creation of BLND on Algorand. StakerDAO will also add Blockdaemon as a validator for BLND’s underlying assets.
StakerDAO Intro Video

July Events
We participated in 2 (virtual) events, including ABS 2020 where we had a booth and were on the DeFi panel. The second event was CoinAgenda’s “The DeFi Revolution”, where Jonas was on the panel “Decentralized Finance”.
