Proof of Stake:

Chorus released a detailed report on the state of liquid staking, but the tl;dr is that it’s much needed to solve issues such as liquidity, price discovery, governance, and more, but today’s solutions are far from perfect or near implementation. Polkadot also switched from PoA nodes to the first NPoS validator elections where the network will work to increase its active validator set from 20 to 100 nodes.

Governance:

This month saw a slew of governance tokens launch while others continue to be anticipated. These include Compound (COMP), Balancer (BAL), and our very own StakerDAO (STKR). See our feature on CoinDesk here. Of those anticipated, we look at projects like Curve (CRV) and Uniswap. This is a small preview of all the governance tokens launched and it should be noted that other high profile projects in the space are considering similar token designs in order to benefit from liquidity mining.

Traditional Finance:

Fidelity and Amun released two reports on how traditional investors are looking into the digital assets space. Fidelity surveyed close to 800 investors and concluded that 36% of investors currently invest in digital assets with most of the appeal related to a lack of correlation as well as technological innovation while most of the hesitation is around price volatility and market manipulation. Amun focused on derivatives and found that the majority (60%) of investors are unhappy with the current state of derivatives markets, but the majority (+75%) of investors surveyed are also quite interested in leveraged and staking products.

Note: I’ve personally pushed out a report focusing on positioning and flows in crypto and I hope to publish this at least bi-weekly. Check it out here!
