I know what you’re thinking, but no. We aren’t filming our articles/interviews and creating some new-wave, technology-only version of a magazine. We were in fact filming for our Crowdfunding page.

Crowdfunding is a way in which a lot of new companies raise money to create the project or idea they want to bring to life. Although we’re hoping to get some funds from the uni, that won’t be enough to get the magazine produced, printed and distributed around the UK.

So, we decided to create a page to Crowdfund for some extra money from any generous people out there to help us pay for Stand Up. The first step was to get our part of the video filmed.

The video will be explaining what the magazine is, why we need it, and what the money donated will go towards. In order to help us do that, we got some colourful balloons and ended up playing with them so much, the filming went on a little longer than expected.

However, it can’t be denied that the balloons were a fun distraction. A couple of the Stand Up members (no shaming here) even gave their beloved balloons names, as if they were their new pets.

But when it came to actual filming, it still ended up being quite a lot of fun — if at times a little frustrating trying to remember lines.

We filmed some of our video outside, and if anyone has ever been to Sunderland, they know how windy it is ALL. THE. TIME. Alas, we weren’t lucky enough to have an unusually still day, so the fight between balloons and the wind got pretty hectic. Running after our props became the main activity for us that afternoon.

We did, however, get everything we needed to film, filmed. Although we had a little panic that the sound wasn’t working, we can confirm that the footage has been checked, and the sound is ok— we’re blaming the headphones.

The next step will be editing the video together along with some music and political clips, so keep your eyes peeled for our Crowdfunding page. We’re hoping to get it live at the end of March.
